Beautiful & Family Friendly

Jul 15, 2020

As a mom of three children under eleven and an elderly accident-prone pug, the items I choose for my home have to be durable and easy to clean. Since my house is often a big part of my portfolio, it also needs to be photo-ready! Let me share with you some products that I have tried and love.

Rugs

Annie Selkie Dash & Albert Rugs: These rugs look and feel like expensive woven wool but are as easy to clean! They are made from polypropylene I kid you not, they almost look like wool. Some of the companies latest innovation in indoor/outdoor rugs also include woven PET and polyester
Ruggable: These babies are machine washable and come in standard sizes up to 8 x 10. Soooo many options to choose from!
Flor: These are carpet tiles that are put together to make a rug.  They average about $20 a tile.  If one were to get destroyed, you can easily replace it.

Upholstered Items

Outdoor Fabrics, also known as “performance fabric’s” are comprised of polyester making them very durable and easy to clean. We had a chocolate milk incident on our sofa and it cleaned up super easy with soap and water!

Obviously Leather is a family favorite.  It is easy to wipe down and keep clean

Always try to go with patterned pillows! It will hide the stains!

Bedding

So I have a secret to share with you.  All of my kids have white linen bedding and people ask how in the world I do it.  There is a product called Biz that is amazing.  I wash all of their linens with it and it makes everything so bright!  There was the nail polish incident of 2018 that one duvet obviously never recovered, but for most stains, it will take care of it.

Tables

Cyrus Table from Burke Decor

I have found that antiqued mirror tabletops are great at masking dirty fingerprints!  You can wipe it down with Windex, and it will look good as new.  For our dining room table, I went with a concrete top table from Restoration Hardware.  I will admit it is our third table in 3 years.  I made the mistake of first getting Zinc – it shows oil stains, then the weathered concrete -also shows oil stains.  The regular concrete does the trick and is super durable.

So there you have it!  Some tried and true kid-tested, interior design mom-approved items for beautiful living.  Thanks for stopping by!
